Dear UCSB Affiliates,
We hope you all remembered to "spring forward" this past weekend for daylight saving time! While losing an hour of sleep can be tough, the extra sunshine each day makes it all worthwhile. Embracing that brighter outlook, we’ve lined up a fantastic selection of events this month to help you get out, connect, and engage with the UCSB Affiliates.
Remember to mark your calendars for the continuation of the Aging & Longevity Lectures Series sponsored by UCSB Alumni Affairs. Up next is Distinguished Professor Denise Montell from the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology on Thursday, March 27th. Join Professor Montell for an insightful discussion on how reducing cellular stress can extend lifespan.
Looking ahead, Profs at the Pub is back on April 13th and we are lucky to be joining forces with the History Associates to present Ya Zuo, an Associate Professor of History at UCSB and cultural historian of middle and late imperial China. Come listen, learn, and enjoy a pint at Third Window Brewing while Professor Zuo dives into the fascinating history of “Male Tears in Pre-Modern China”.
If you are interested in becoming more involved with the UCSB Affiliates whether through volunteering or board membership please reach out to learn more! You can email affiliates@ia.ucsb.edu or respond directly to this newsletter.
We hope you enjoy the latest issue of the Affiliates Newsletter!
Until next time,
The UC Santa Barbara Affiliates Board
